I flew home today. I had traveled to New England to serve and love my extended family during a difficult time. It was a sweet but hard trip. Honestly, when the trip drew to an end, I was weary and ready to go home. Yesterday I had a very nagging feeling that my flight would be delayed so I went to the airport early today (and did lots of praying). I prayed differently than I sometimes do. I fully surrendered, trusting God, while still petitioning Him, sharing authentically my heart’s desire. I had a beautiful peace in this moment. I knew I was okay if I was delayed, but I really wanted to go home. After praying, I asked the airline to switch me to an earlier flight because my layover was tight and I would likely miss my connection. Well, God in His goodness got me on the earlier flight, which was a huge blessing because my original flight was delayed and I would have been stuck for another day. He cares about all the little things, doesn’t He!!

These thoughts came to me as I dug up, split, and transplanted this particular wildflower this spring. Its roots were strong and difficult to remove from the soil, yet it thrived when planted in its new home...
Over the past seven years, I have walked through a season marked by five surgeries, two injury-related accidents, and the unprecedented demands of helping elementary educators and families during the COVID-19 pandemic. Yet this season has also brought remarkable blessings and moments of deep joy. I have watched my children flourish in their relationships with others and with Christ. I have shared unforgettable hiking adventures with people I love, participated in the exciting work of a church plant, and discovered renewed joy and purpose in both my personal and professional life. Through every valley and every mountaintop experience, God has sustained me, much like the Lily of the Valley—a flower that flourishes despite difficult conditions. Scripture reminds us that Christ Himself is called "the Lily of the Valleys" (Song of Solomon 2:1-2), symbolizing beauty, strength, and hope in the midst of adversity. Like this resilient flower that emerges each spring after enduring harsh winters, I have witnessed God's faithfulness bringing growth, healing, and renewal through every season. As Isaiah 40:31 promises, "But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength; they will soar on wings like eagles." Looking back, I see that resilience is not merely surviving hardship but trusting God to work all things together for good (Romans 8:28), using both trials and triumphs to strengthen faith, deepen gratitude, and reveal His unfailing grace.
